About
Filmmakers have Auteurs, the select few who write produce direct and edit their films, from Godard to Tarantino, and Scorsese, to Hal Ashby, Spike Lee and Steven Speilberg... Why not musicians?
Val Broeksmit is a musical Auteur, even rarer than in filmmaking.
Val writes records, mixes and masters his own music.Under the umbrella of Bikini Robot Army, Val has created some of the catchiest, greatest grooves, that has been missing from the music industry for the last decade.
His music takes the best parts of the 60's, 70's rock bands, mixing with the Mowtown grooves of the 70's and the post punk electronic dance beats of the 80's and 90's; complete with lyrical poetics and storytelling, from Rudyard Kipling to Robert Hunter to Robert Burns.
One of Val's most addictive hooks, is straight from Steinbecks "Of Mice and Men".
Bikini Robot Army is the greatest of aggregates.
Val play's most every instrument heard on each track with some extraordinary exceptions...sometimes he calls in his "special guests" to come and play, musical genius's of their own right (see below)(selection from Spin Magazine interview 2008)
Val Brokesmit is to Bikini Robot Army as Mike Skinner is to the Streets. Brokesmit put together his one-man show in the summer of 2006, after his previous collaborative projects called it quits. Now gaining momentum through his OurStage profile -- he finished Top Ten in three categories in April -- he, his ProTools and the resulting dance-rock song haven't looked back.

This is a great throwback to the classic rock era. The song [Fragile Things] takes its sound from a decadent time when intoxicating psychedelic funk flooded the airwaves.
